Rosemere, Quebec | Nova Craft Prospector in Royalex Lite | (Rivers are in Quebec except as otherwise indicated) 2009 - Ashuapmushuan, w/C & J Bower 2008 - Riviere De Pas by crossing Lake Attigamken from Schefferville and running the De Pas to the George River with Carol and Jerry Bower and Bob Weaver. 2007 - Dumoines river in June at water level near the highest ever, from near origin in La Verendrye Park to Ottawa River near St-Joachim, with Carol & Jerry Bower in 16 ft Royalex Lite canoes (Novacraft). 2006 - De Chef from origin to Ashuapmushuan river, w/ C & J Bower in 16 Royalex Lite (Nova Craft) and 16 ft kevlar canoes. 2005 - Kekek/Closse/Megiscane, w/ C & J Bower 2004 - Bazin/Gatineau, w/C & J Bower 2003 - Ashuapmushuan, w/C & J Bower 2002 - Mistassibi NE, w/C & J Bower and Bob Weaver 2001 - West Magpie from Eric to Ruisseau Vital, upsteam to lakes Vital and Fournier and very difficult traverse to Lake La Mule and downstream to Waco station on Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway. Team of 3 in 16 ft and 17 ft Kevlar canoes. The second canoe trip with my sister Carol Bower and brother-in-law Jerry Bower who began canoeing after they retired. 2000 - Kekek/Closse/Megiscane 1999 - Capitachouane, solo for second time, in 16 ft fiberglass canoe, okay except for encounter with bear and two cubs. 1997 - Pekans, team of four 1996 - Bazin/Gatineau, team of three 1995 - River Pekans from Fermont area to Lac Bouteuille; first upstream trip, with Jean-Pierre Girard in two 16 ft fiberglass canoes. 1994 - Kekek/Closse/Megiscane from CNR line to Lake Faillon. Team of two, my good friend Jean-Pierre Girard who has been with me on 14 canoe trips. Two 16-fiberglass canoes. 1993 - Ashuapmushuan, team of six 1992 - Mistassibi Northeast, team of two. 1991 - Bonnet Plume river, Yukon, team of six in ABS, spray-skirted canoes, from Lac Bonnet Plume 200 miles to the Peel river and 40 miles on the Peel to the confluence of the Snake River. Words cannot describe this one but I will try, a truly wilderness river. We dropped 3000 ft in the 240 miles which we ran in 12 days, 6 canyons, two of which we ran, mountains towering 4000 to 5000 feet above us for the first 160 miles. Now a heritage river. We saw orange peels from a previous group and a small cabin at the 160 miles and no other sign of mankind other than the flow monitoring station. The ultimate canoe trip. 1990 - Bazin/Gatineau, from Parent to Baskatong reservoir in 16 ft fiberglass canoe. This one I ran solo, a team of one as it were, and was a great although at times unnerving experience. 1989 - Ashuapmushuan, team of two. 1989 - Misassibi Northeast, team of 8 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes, from origin Lac Mashisqueto the Domtar bridge. 1988 - Ashuapmushuan river, team of 6 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes, from origin thru the Ashuapmushuan reserve to take-out above Chutes-a-l'Ours. A high volume river with various options at many rapids. 1987 - Bazin,Cou-cou,Gatineau rivers, team of 3 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes from Parent to the Baskatong reservoir. From point where Bazin enters the Gatineau, it is possible to reach the Cou-cou to the west via a portage trail and a series of streams, lakes and portages. The Cou-cou enters the Gatineau about 15 miles north of the confluence allowing canoeists to run the "Scenique", a spectacular 15 mile set of R3 rapids. 1986 - Capitachouane, team of 5 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes from Bourmont Station on CNR line to Dozois Reservoir. 1984 - Magpie West, team of 5 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes, from Eric to Lake Magpie, this is a very difficult river, even dangerous with lots of portages and few portage trails. 1982 - Bazin/Gatineau, team of 5 in 16 ft fiberglass canoes, from Parent to Baskatong Reservoir. |
