Packs & Dry Bags

Keeping your gear dry
About the only thing that bothers a human more than getting cold and wet is getting his or her gear wet. Thanks to modern technology, paddlers have a wide array of waterproof "drybags" and packs to choose from that will keep equipment and food dry 99% of the time, even in the event of a canoe capsize in whitewater! You'll want to purchase a few large dry bags with shoulder and waist straps for food and camping gear, a few medium sized drybags to store items you need to get to in a hurry, and small drybags in which to store first aids kits and specialty items such as cameras, etc. I have had great luck over the years with Sealine Pro Pack and Baja Nylon Dry Bags by Cascade Design, as well as with the Paragon Pack, which is manufactured by Northwest River Supplies.
I would suggest avoiding dry bags that are made of clear "see-thru" nylon and plastic; they are not as durable as standard dry bags.
